Colophon Page
In order to develop a good quality website, that is reasonable accessible, up to standards, easibility, and with good wasy to find. I will describe how this site should have been made, and how it has been made; with a description of the web standards, usability, search engine optimization, and Return On Investment.
- Web Standards
- Have all pages be valid with a validation service. Web pages that are made to standards are easier for search engines, easier to convert to other formats. Pages that are made with standards in mind are simplified.
- When developing each page of my site - I have used a validator to valid each page to web standards.
- Usability
- There are several ways to make a site user usability friendly: not having a crowded site = less is more, having a consistent navigation bar, and keeping content's size to a minimum - this will make for a better download speed.
- On my site I have a consistent navigation bar on site page. And all links are clearing defined. Download speed should be at the highest - since at this time there isn't too many pictures or other items that would slow down the browser speed. The plan for the site will require many photos and pictures, but they will not be greater than 40kb.
- SEO
- To make my site more search engine friendly, and to receive a higher search engine ranking - I have embeded or coded many references to my domain name "CaseySchumacher.com" I have done this in most of the links in the site and also with the images on the site.
- ROI
- To increase "ROI" or Return On Investment - I have made it for myself to write and code each page. I have made wireframes and modules that reference outside files. By doing these - I have made coding a lot easier and especially a lot quicker! Thus receiving a good Return On my Investment.
