Copyright
"To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries." (U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 8)
Overview:
Under the copyright law, anything that is produced (tangible or untangible) is safeguarded. It is not required for the author or inventor to register with the copyright office. Just the work being produced is good enough, nor does there need to be a © notice. Though registering with the office is a good idea.
Producing a website, like I have, gives the author many items that are automatically are given copyright rights. Some of these items include;
- Original text
- Graphics
- Code
- Script
- Images
- Data
Websites can link to other website, unless otherwise stated. Websites can use free graphics, if only the graphics are advertised as free.
Overall, when in doubt - receive permission first.
